Paul was dealing with his substance use disorder for many years. He said to me “Dad, a recovery home would be fantastic to help the many I know in treatment programs with no place to live.” He researched establishing not for profits and found NARR was a great source for information on how to operate them. We obtained the 501c3 and established Rockland Recovery Homes, Inc. on 2/15/2018. We do not know the details, Paul was doing well, working and dating. He died of an overdose with fentanyl a month later. I consider Paul the founder of RRH and we have named the recovery home Paul’s Place, to carry on his legacy of helping others during his difficult life.
Recovery homes are a vital part of the long recovery process but are not recognized for their importance. They reduce the return to use cycle and save lives.
